Week 14 in Pindare (Week 78)

Here are some quick updates!!

This week we had two zone conferences. The Santa Ines and Imperatriz zones.
The theme for these conferences was interlinking the Atonement of Jesus Christ with Missionary work. There was also a theme of recognizing our Purpose.

One of the best parts of the week was the trip from Santa Ines to Imperatriz which is 6 hours by car. Elder Morais and I had the privilege to travel with President and Sister Lago. I never had a 6-hour road trip pass by faster. I was just sitting in the back with a pad of paper writing down all of the things that I was learning.

Sunday Morning Elder Morais and I went to Sacrament meeting in Santa Ines. They were needing some help with conferring the priesthood and some other things. These past 4 months, every week I would go to Santa Inês to do baptismal interviews for the people that the missionaries in Santa Ines are preparing to be baptized. As I arrived for the meeting I felt such peace as I could see all the people that I had the privilege to interview. So many came to thank me.

Hope all is well. I hope that you all make time to study the scriptures and work to become more like the savior.

I read all of your letters Thank You all so much
Love

Week 13 in Pindare (Week 77)

Hello All!

One of the best parts of being a missionary and a leader is that you have a front-row seat to see the Atonement of Jesus Christ taking action in the lives of the people and missionaries in which you work with. It strengthens my own testimony that Jesus is the Christ--the Son of God that suffered for the sins of the world so that mankind can have the privilege of repenting and returning to live with Him.

We had two baptisms in Pindaré! Devison who is a recent convert of 2.5 months was ordained to the office of Priest last week, so he helped us out with the baptizing.

This week Elder Morais and I will be traveling a bunch! Looking forward to it!

I heard something funny from some recent converts. "Monday will be the best day of our lives!!" Why I asked, "Monday is when they are going install wifi in our house." Man, I was laughing quite a bit.

Applicability. Many times we should take time to self evaluate our lives. Am I fulfilling my responsibility as a son/daughter of God? As a Father/Mother/child, as my office in the priesthood, and as my calling specifically. If not, why? What do I need to change? How and when?

As we self evaluate, we will be able to be better and become more like the Savior. If we don't learn the doctrine and principles of self-evaluation, we will arrive at an age and look back on our lives seeing that we could have achieved and become so much more.

Hope you all have a great week!
I don't always have the time to respond but please don't stop writing!
Love
Elder Hillam

Week 12 in Pindare (Week 76)

Hello friends and family!

A big Happy Birthday to my father! Super thankful to be your son.

I know it has been a while! I am the new Assistant in the Brazil Teresina Mission. My schedule now is different every day, so I will email when I can. I am learning a ton with my calling and my companion Elder Morais. I know that as I trust in the Lord, He will make me capable to be better and magnify my calling.

This last week we had seven baptisms in Pindaré. The group is growing so fast. We are waiting on the approval of the branch from Salt Lake. I felt such a peace yesterday in sacrament meeting. As I could count each and every one of the recent converts in the meeting; that I could hear them share their testimonies and see them bless and pass the sacrament. It's incredible.

New Year's was awesome in Teresina with all of the zone leaders. We all played basketball in the morning, showered, ate lunch, and then had our mission counsel. At night all of the leaders of the mission ate dinner at the mission home. Was unforgettable.
