Receiving Personal Revelation (Week 62)

Hello All!

The time continues to fly faster and faster every day on the mission. This week we had two baptisms! Franciellyson and Edilson. Two little guys with a lot of faith. They basically live on their own.

The Itaquibacanga Ward is awesome! Bishop is hilarious. He packs so many people in his car to go to church. Little kids packed into the trunk and all. Then he will go and for a 2nd or even a 3rd trip to pick people up.

Elder Sabino from São Paulo that lived with us was transferred and Elder Thompson from Idaho Falls is now living with us. It's been a lot of fun. Elder Thompson has only about four weeks in the field but acts like he has so much more. Uncle Rodney and Jordan were his orthodontists.

It is a huge honor to be a part of this mission. President and Sister Lago are two incredible people. It is amazing to watch them do the Lord's work. You literally have to run to keep up with all of the inspiration they receive from the Lord.

Receiving personal revelation to guide the zone is the best way to make differences. Learn something and apply it immediatly and the Lord will give more! Be a doer!

Super excited for this last week in the month in the zone as we have a huge potential for a great outcome. Will probably be in Teresina for a meeting next Monday!

Thankful! (Week 61)

Hello  Family!!

So thankful for every week that I have in the mission. Elder Halls and I were travelling around everywhere in the zone this week solving problems, and interviewing a ton of investigators for baptism!

It was a ton of fun to get to do a division with Elder Gomes and Elder Riner this week. Elder Gomes is a fairly new missionary from Cape Verde and his accent is awesome!

In the zone we have a ton of ex-investigators that have already gone to church. We are not going to lose the work of the old missionaries that have passed through these areas. We are helping each of the missionaries chase after these people. The seed was planted by older missionaries a long time ago and now the field is white!

We are also helping the missionaries in the zone leave a strong commitment. Helping the investigators understand the consequences of every commitment they keep and not. Commitments are one of the main ways we help the investigators repent and move their lives to become for like Jesus Christ!

Today we were able to go down town and see some museums and some old churches! I felt as if I was walking down in Europe with these super old buildings and churches! We ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant. It was self service. So we all took advantage of that...

I hope we can all work to receive daily revelation of the things we need to do, learn, and get better.

Have an awesome week! Pray for missionary opportunities everyday. The Lord will provide.

Love you all,
Elder Hillam

So Much is Happening! (Week 60)

Hello  Family!!

Everything's going great here in the new zone! Its been a lot of fun in the city. This area has so many steep hills. Like really steep. You have to be careful when you step out of a house on these hills. Thunder thighs here we come!

My companion Elder Halls is incredible. Probably the most humble missionary that I have worked with. He has just 2.5 months left.

We ate lunch this past week with the Stake President who belongs to our ward. He knows Grandpa. I did not know this but 25 years ago Grandpa organized this same stake! Kinda of fun to be a zone leader in the same stake that your grandpa organized. The Stake President goes around saying Hillam, Hillam means division lol!

Recreated this picture too!!

We had two baptisms!!!! Evandro and Karol! They are awesome. Karol wants to be a Sister Missionary some day!

Friday we had an exclusive devotional with President Nelson and his wife, Elder Cook and his wife, and President Aidukaitis and his wife. Friday was just for the missionaries. It was being broadcasted live from Brasilia. It was incredible. I just walked out of the chapel thinking.... Wow President Lago (our mission president) is super inspired. Over the past 3 months he already counseled us to do all of the things that President Nelson shared with is.  Incredible.

On Sunday we had another special broadcast with the same people above but for all of the members of Brazil!! Was being broadcasted live from Sao Paulo. Absolutely incredible too.
